1. Seasonal Coffee Drinks

Yes, I know that October is around the corner, and we are all giddily awaiting the release of the Pumpkin Spice Latte, but those drinks are absolutely loaded with sugar. Some drinks have up to 50 grams of sugar! That is about 15 tablespoons of sugar with each drink. Stick to straight black coffee instead.

2. Spaghetti Sauce

Next time you are at a grocery store, grab a jar of your favorite sauce and read the nutrition label. You will be shocked to find that it is very high in sugar. Try making your own sauce instead (or search for a spaghetti sauce with reduced sugar content).




3. Granola

Granola is often associated with healthy foods that very few people take the time to check the sugar content. Most granolas are high in sugar, so try looking for one with no added sugar.

4. Agave

A few years ago, agave became an extremely popular as an all natural sugar substitute. The problem? It’s actually worse for you than raw sugar, itself! It is higher in fructose than any other sweetener, including the ever popular high fructose corn syrup.

5. Yogurt

Yogurt is deemed as a healthy snack that is full of protein. The problem? It is also usually full of sugar. The low-fat yogurts are especially high in sugar.




6. Sports Drinks

Sports drinks and exercise come in pair and so many people think that they are healthy. And for someone that exercises regularly, this may be true. This is because the sports drinks are designed to provide energy to exhausted bodies by way of glucose. Stick to water, guys!

7. Protein Bars

Protein helps us feel fuller longer, so many people turn to protein bars to lose weight. While protein indeed increases the feelings of fullness, protein bars are actually full of sugar. Instead, try eating a handful of nuts instead, which are full of protein and have zero sugar.
